NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU THINK YOU ARE (OR AREN’T), WE’LL MAKE YOU A BETTER RUNNER.
Whether you’ve hit every PR or had your heart broken, either by the time on the clock or by your own body letting you down, every runner we know wants to get better.
But the truth is, there’s no such thing as perfect running form.
EFFICIENT running form, on the other hand, will help you maximize your potential and avoid injury for the rest of your life. Get faster. Go farther. Don’t feel like crap the next day. That’s the stuff runners dream of.
Ever wind up with a bloody ankle from accidentally kicking it with your other foot on a run? Can’t figure out why your right hip is always tighter than your left? Training cycle after training cycle goes well, but the wheels fall off in the last 10K of every BQ attempt?
It’s high time to figure out why.
With our running form analysis — just like all of our treatments — our Athlete Mechanics will educate you on exactly what’s going on with your body and teach you how to fix it. FOR GOOD. If you never have to see us again for another treatment or service, we’ll consider it a win.
If you’ve ever been injured from running or consistently “run through” pain, this analysis is a necessity.
If you’re just starting out or making a comeback, learning proper form for YOUR body will prepare you to ramp up mileage and speed, and keep you from getting sidelined.
Even Usain Bolt wasn’t born with an innately perfect running form, nor did he luck into it accidentally. It was unique to his body and developed over time, utilizing his genetic potential to the fullest extent. If analyzing running form works pretty well for those at the highest level, it’s probably worth your time, too.
SO HOW DOES THIS RUNNING FORM ANALYSIS GO DOWN?
Our goal in examining how you run is not necessarily to change the way you do it. Like Usain Bolt, we’ll maximize your potential and work with what you’ve been given.
We’ll examine whether you’re overstriding, and where your foot is striking the ground in relation to your body (under or in front of your hips.) We’ll review your running cadence (stride frequency) and hip and knee flexion for various speeds, and get to know you and your goals. Once we pinpoint potential issues, we’ll create a customized program of exercises and drills to fix what we find and develop your speed and power, if that’s what you’re after.
To sum it up, we’ll make you as bulletproof and efficient as possible to tackle your goals.
Like bulleted lists? Us, too:
Full body movement assessment with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (45 minute session)
Running form analysis (includes video capture, observation and detailed written report) to pinpoint potential problems and inefficiencies
Customized at-home program to fix the issues and develop speed and power (strength training, stretches and drills)
Evaluation of training plan, race schedule and goals
100% of our undivided attention
After 30 days, you’ll come back in for a re-assessment to analyze your progress and tweak your training plan.
A SALESPERSON AT A RUNNING SHOP WATCHED ME ON A TREADMILL FOR 45 seconds. ISN’T THIS THE SAME THING?
In a word, NOPE.
You might wind up with the trendiest shoes, but you will not get sufficient data and a strategy to significantly improve your performance or longevity in the sport from that scenario. We are biomechanics experts and understand how the body moves better than anyone else. AND, we’re runners ourselves. (Doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate those sweet sneaks, though.)
HOW MUCH WILL THIS SET ME BACK?
Investing in this analysis will set you up to become a better runner for life. Efficient mechanics will keep you from getting injured, saving you time, cash and a ton of frustration. What’s that worth? (Not to mention the bragging rights when you smoke your friends at your next 5K.)
Give us a shout at (212) 203-6802 to discuss our rates. You invest in us. We invest in you right back.
DO I HAVE TO COME TO SEE YOU IRL?
We always prefer in-person sessions. But if you’re outside of NYC, we’ll instruct you on how to send videos of your running form so we can still analyze your gait and develop a customized program.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Such a good move on your part. Call us at (212) 203-6802 or email us at FixMe@ClutchPT.com to snag an appointment. Limited spots are available each week. Please bring your running kicks with you so we can examine the wear patterns on those puppies.
I’M STILL ON THE FENCE.
Cool, cool. We’ll weep quietly in the corner while you use this handy form to ask us whatever else you need to know.
